Who is Ty?

Who is Ty? - Medium Article

I’m Ty (Tyler McKay), a nightly cohost on Crypto Spaces Network’s State of the Trenches and a lifelong coach who loves turning complex crypto moves into simple, usable steps. My work lives at the intersection of crypto, NFTs, community, and networking, with an educator’s mindset and a jiu jitsu competitor’s discipline.

What I do (nightly on CSN)

Every night at 11:00 PM ET, I’m live on State of the Trenches with host RUU (@ruumeta) and fellow cohost Banks (@banksmetax). We hang out, vibe, and talk through what actually matters:

  • Networking & community: helping people find their place in the community and supporting members' goals

  • Education: Easy-to-understand language breakdowns and step-by-step frameworks

  • Safety: wallet hygiene, red flags, smarter risk

  • NFTs: fine art, real utility, creator tools

  • Memecoins: research, timing, proper preparation

I’m very active in the Doginal Dog community, the #1 community on X, a group that shows up daily on the 𝕏 timeline and in 𝕏 spaces to learn, build, and support each other.

Where to join me: open 𝕏 at 11 PM ET, search “State of the Trenches”, or follow @Ty_metax for the live link.

Educator first

I started coaching at age 12, helping with my little brother’s baseball practices. That early start turned into a career: I’ve taught health, nutrition, and physical education for five years across all grade levels. Teaching gave me a simple playbook I use everywhere:

  • Start with clear fundamentals, then layer complexity

  • Use short, actionable cues instead of fluff

  • Build repeatable routines people can rely on and put into action immediately

Whether it’s wallet setup, security habits, or understanding NFTs, I’m focused on clarity you can put to work right away.

Jiu jitsu background

I’ve been on the mats for 8 years, I’m a brown belt, and I compete often with titles to show for it. For the last 4 years, I’ve taught jiu jitsu to kids and adults. The mat is where my approach was forged:

  • Discipline over drama: fundamentals, timing, and problem-solving

  • Decision trees: if/then planning for common positions (and crypto choices)

  • Consistent reps: “Aggregation of marginal gains”. Small wins, stacked over time.

The same mindset that wins matches helps people learn crypto safely and confidently.

How I work (my principles)

  • Clarity over hype: translate complicated crypto jargon into easy-to-understand steps

  • Safety first: slow down, verify, protect your assets

  • Community matters: we learn faster together

  • Frameworks > hot takes: checklists, routines, and decision trees you can reuse

  • Feedback loop: test, review, adjust… then do it again
